What We Review

What We Review

What We Will Review on this Blog/tumblr

We will review any anime, manga, or video game that we take interest in or are recommended. We typically will do anime on a season-by-season basis—meaning we will review season 1 by itself and season 2 as an independent entity, and so on. For manga, we will tend to do reviews five volumes at a time, unless the series is fairly short (roughly around ten volumes). Otherwise, we will simply review the series as a whole. We also tend to stray away from manga that is just getting started as there wouldn't be enough volumes for us to go off of. We accept games through our curator page on Steam as well, which we will prioritise over other reviews that we have ready. In due time we will eventually begin reviewing games featured on other platforms.

What We Will NOT Review on this Blog/tumblr

We will no longer be doing full reviews for games that we do not recommend. While no one has ever reached out to us about this, we fear that criticism—no matter how well-intended—can discourage growth. For these sorts of games, we will simply leave a small comment on our curator page with anything helpful we can think of, and say that it's not for us. In the past we have been offered games that we could not recommend at the time, or games that had their own following but that we could not get behind in full faith. We've always tried to be compassionate about these things and offer our honest and most constructive criticisms, but we fear that even this amount of scrutiny could negatively affect those small or new developers who have devoted so much of their time and care into the games that they're creating. We know how hard it can be to make your very own video game, and that such an admirable dream can be easily snuffed out by one person's negative opinion, and we don't wish to be the catalysts that ruin someone's journey no matter how amateur or tenured they are as a developer. And, after all, we are just two people. We can't speak to what everyone will enjoy, but if you're a fan of other recommended games that we've reviewed then you'll likely find more things you'll enjoy on this blog or on our tumblr page if you're a member there.

All of that being said, we're in the process of reworking all of our old reviews so for the moment you'll still find those negative reviews posted. They will eventually be deleted and any "not recommended" review on Steam will soon redirect here. Going forward, we will only go into depth on the things we really love in media.

If you happen to be the developer of a game that we've not recommended and you find yourself here—keep it up. There are infinite possibilities for what can be done in game development, and a nigh inconceivable potential for the future. We are, as mentioned, just two people in a sea of others that you can appeal to, can inspire, or can move. Though we have our own preferences, which may not always align with what you've created, we truly wish you the absolute best in your journey forward and hope for your success with finding your niche. Keep putting your heart and soul into your games and keep trying to get them out there. Someone somewhere will connect with and cherish the things you create.
